A man who fired shots at a pumpkin across the street from outside the apartment where his young child was sleeping is now behind bars, officials said.
Christopher D. Green was arrested outside his apartment at 2235 Koehler Dr., Lower Saucon Twp., Northampton Co., at about 10:15 p.m. Wednesday, officials said.
Police were called after landlord Ryan Regec heard six shots fired from a semi-automatic gun, and they found Green drunk behind the apartment, officials said.
Green did not tell officers why he was shooting at the pumpkin across Koehler Street, toward Route 378, only that his .22 caliber Ruger MK iii pistol was on the top of a cabinet inside his apartment and that his 5-year-old son was inside sleeping, officials said.
The boy was found about five feet from where Green was shooting, and the pistol was found in his room, they added.
Green, 30, was arraigned early Thursday morning on charges of reckless endangerment, possessing instruments of crime, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $10,000 bail, according to court documents.
A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Nov. 21.
