BETHLEHEM TWP., Pa. -

A man was caught with several counterfeit bills after trying to buy a memory card with funny money at a big box store,  officials said.

Arthur E. Dennis tried to use a counterfeit $100 bill to pay for a memory card at the Best Buy store in the Southmont Mall, 4413 Birkland Place, Bethlehem Twp., Northampton Co., at 8:50 p.m. Saturday, officials said.

Dennis left the store after a clerk determined the bill was counterfeit and other store employees recognized him as having passed fake $100 bills over the last several weeks, officials said.

Dennis was found at the Lowe's next door with a total of 19 fake $5, $10 and $100 bills, officials said.

Dennis, 41, told police that he works at a barbershop in Queens, N.Y., and has been staying for the last five months with a friend who lives in the 1100 block of Washington Street in Easton, officials said.

He was arraigned on charges of forgery, theft and possessing instruments of crime and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $40,000 bail, according to court documents.

Officials said further charges are pending.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9:45 a.m. Nov. 9.
