BETHLEHEM, Pa. -

A man wanted in connection with a burglary last month in New York state was arrested at Bethlehem police headquarters, officials said.

Pedro Garcia-Ayala was at the Bethlehem Police Department, 10 E. Church St., on Tuesday afternoon when an officer discovered there was a warrant for his arrest on a first-degree felony burglary charge out of Endicott, N.Y., officials said.

Garcia-Ayala took part in a burglary of an apartment in Endicott on March 27 and used a sharp edged instrument to injure two people inside, court papers say.

Endicott is about 10 miles west of Binghamton, N.Y., and 140 miles north of Bethlehem.

Garcia-Ayala, 36, of 603 Aaron St., Bethlehem, was arraigned and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $100,000 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 10 a.m. April 19.
