The Northampton Borough Council ended the year by unanimously approving the 2013 budget and setting the property tax rate at 8.10 mills.
The $5.72 million budget will allow earned income, local services, and real estate transfer taxes to remain unchanged. Sewer rates and trash collection fees will also hold steady at current rates.
When Borough Manager Gene Zarayko unveiled the budget last month, it included a one-mill tax increase. That increase would have cost homeowners an extra $50 in 2013.
But Zarayko chipped away at the initial $5.75 million budget and, for the fourth year in a row, avoided a property tax hike.
