It's a partnership that is sure to bring brighter smiles to Bethlehem.
Northampton Community College has opened a new dental center in a partnership with St. Luke's University Health Network.
They're providing dental services to those who may not have them.
"During the course of the year there will be thousands of individuals that will come in and out of this clinic to receive the kind of dental support they need,” said Mark Erickson, president of Northampton Community College.
The new dental center at NCC's Southside center will also help aspiring dental hygienist obtain their degree.
“It's a wonderful opportunity for our students to work side by side with their dentist," added Erickson.
The center is a joint partnership between NCC and St Luke's University Health network.
“Look how far we have come as a community," said one speaker. "Today is all about the entire community.”
Seventy to 80 dental hygiene students will work with three dentists from St. Luke's to provide services like exams, x-rays, and other dental treatments.
“A win win win," said Erickson. "I applaud St. Luke's for their vision and commitment to the community. I think it's very much a shared vision and commitment I see at the college.”
This is the second joint partnership clinic between the two groups in the last two years.
College officials say with the medical and dental clinic in operation, more than 50,000 people will be treated each year.
