Two Warren County, N.J. men were arrested after they were caught with a trunk-full of stolen copper downspouts, officials said.
Joseph M. Duckworth and Ryan J. Hnasko took the downspouts from the homes of William Bissell, 726 Paxinosa Ave., and his neighbor, James Schaffer, 734 Paxinosa Ave., both of Easton, just before 1 p.m. Monday, officials said.
Police were headed to Paxinosa Street after getting a tip when they spotted Duckworth and Hnasko in a red 1992 Plymouth Acclaim on Bushkill Street, officials said.
Duckworth admitted to the thefts and showed officers the folded and creased downspouts in the car's trunk after he was pulled over, officials said.
No dollar value was placed on the downspouts in court papers.
Duckworth, 25, of 77 Front St., Belvidere, and Hnasko, 24, of 223 Natalie Drive, Phillipsburg, were arraigned on charges of theft, criminal mischief, criminal trespass and receiving stolen property, according to court documents.
Duckworth was also arraigned on a charge with driving with a suspended license, court papers show.
Duckworth and Hnasko were each committed to the Northampton County Prison on $100,000 bail, according to court documents.
A preliminary hearing for both men is set for 9 a.m. Dec. 27.
