EASTON, Pa. -

A man is suing his doctor over a fall that happened right after he visited the doctor's office two years ago.

Manfredo Martinez, of 1805 Chardonnay Dr., Bethlehem Twp., Northampton Co., filed a civil suit Friday in Northampton County Court against South Bethlehem Family Practice, 608 Pierce St., Bethlehem.

Martinez said in his suit that on Feb. 8, 2011, he slipped and fell on icy steps as he was leaving the South Bethlehem Family Practice office because the steps were not cleared, shoveled and salted.

The suit charges negligence on the part of South Bethlehem Family Practice; property owners Abel and Mayra Gonzalez of Gonzalez Equities, 2299 Brodhead Rd., Hanover Twp., Northampton Co., and the man responsible for the practice's snow and ice removal, Michael Salsovic, 1608 Millard St., Bethlehem.

Martinez injured both shoulders and his left knee and ankle and continues to suffer pain, according to the suit. Martinez's injuries have affected his relationship with his wife, Iris, who is also part of the civil suit, according to the court filing.

Martinez and his wife Iris are asking for more than $50,000 in damages.
