A man is suing two women who he claims attacked him after a car crash on Bethlehem's south side seven months ago.
Derek Spence, of 1909 7th St., Bethlehem Twp., Northampton Co, filed a civil suit Wednesday in Northampton County Court against Keyshia Montanez-Melendez, who was driving the car Spence collided with on March 30, and Valeria Lopez-Sanchez, who was Montanez-Melendez's passenger. Both women live at 901 North Penn St., Allentown, according to court papers.
Spence said in his suit that after the accident, the women ripped open the driver's-side door of his 2007 Kia Spectra and punched and slapped him with open hands and fists on his head, chest, neck and arms as he sat helpless in the car with a head injury.
Before the accident, Montanez-Melendez's 2005 Nissan Altima was "riding the bumper" of Spence's car for some time, and when the cars approached the intersection of Hayes and East 7th streets in Bethlehem, Montanez-Melendez passed Spence's car at a high rate of speed and then slammed on her brakes before making a left turn onto East 7th, according to the suit.
Spence said in the suit that he veered left to avoid colliding with Montanez-Melendez's car, but was unsuccessful.
Spence claimed Montanez-Melendez was negligent in her driving, and that she and Lopez-Sanchez were "outrageous, willful and wanton" in their behavior, according to the suit.
Spence and his wife Cassandra are seeking damages, but no amount is mentioned in the suit.
