Homicide investigation under way in Allentown

ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin filed charges against a man accused of beating a man to death.

Bijorn Trent, 30, has been charged with one count of criminal homicide.

Early Wednesday morning police were called to the area of South Hall Street and Harrison Street in Allentown.  There, police said, they found Juan Alberto Devarie, 46, of the 500 block of Wyoming Street, dead in his car around 2:40 a.m.

Police said Devarie was the victim of an assault. He was apparently with three women -- his daughter, niece and their female friend -- when the women were arguing with two men and a woman as the assault occurred, police said.

An autopsy performed by the Lehigh County coroner's office Wednesday revealed Devarie died of blunt force trauma to the head. His death was ruled a homicide.

The two men and woman involved in the altercation with the victim's relatives were last seen entering a building at 723 South Hall Street.

According to police, these three people have been identified and are being interviewed by police. They are suspects in the assault, police said Wednesday afternoon.  So far, charges have only been filed against Trent.
