WILSON, Pa. -

A man is in trouble with the law after holding his wife at knifepoint and saying he would cut her into little pieces, officials said.

Joseph A. Zelinski threatened his wife with a 10-inch blade during an argument in their home in the 1900 block of Fairview Avenue in Wilson, Northampton Co., at about 5:15 p.m. Monday, officials said.

Zelinski's wife went to police headquarters to report the assault, and told officers her husband also threatened to cut off her head and that he grabbed her by the wrist while still holding the knife when she tried to leave, officials said.

Zelinski, 58, was arraigned on charges of aggravated and simple assault, physical menace and making terroristic threats and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $50,000 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. April 22.
