A man attacked his girlfriend with a video game drum set and a TV remote control and threatened her with a pot of boiling water, officials said.

Jesse Johnson assaulted and threatened his girlfriend after an argument turned physical at 1 p.m. Saturday in his home in the 700 block of Fairview Street in Bethlehem, officials said.

The victim reported the altercation on Monday, saying Johnson first spit in her face, picked her up by her shirt, threw her to the ground and smashed a Rock Band drum set across her back, officials said.

Johnson then climbed on top of the victim, put his hands over her throat and nose and pushed down while telling her, "Die ... I hate you."

A short time later, Johnson hit the woman in the thigh with a TV remote control, and while yelling at her, picked up a pot of boiling water and threatened to throw it at her if she ever said she was going to leave him again, officials said.

Johnson, 32, was arraigned on charges of assault, harassment and making terroristic threats and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $10,000 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 10:15 a.m. April 29.
