For many retailers, Veterans Day weekend is the unofficial start of the holiday shopping season. After a slow year, stores are hoping for some extra sales in their stockings this year.
It doesn't look like it.
"It's gorgeous," said Carol Kloss of Center Valley.
And at nearly 70 degrees, it certainly doesn't feel like it.
"I can't believe the weather," said Roseann Moyer of Coopersburg. "It's unreal."
But Christmas is definitely here.
"It makes no sense," said Dustin Victory of Center Valley.
At least, at stores it does. Shoppers are already seeing lots of holiday sales.
"Yeah, there's a lot at American Eagle and PacSun, and like good clothes deals and jewelry and stuff," said Dustin's sister, Miranda.
At the Promenade Shops in Center Valley, Lehigh Co., shoppers said the holiday deals are even bigger than usual.
"I think there's a lot more sales going on than last year," said Shannon Barry of Center Valley.
Santa could be bringing stores a present this year. Retail analysts expect holiday sales to jump more than four percent this year. That would be great news at Sage women's boutique, where managers said it's been a weak sales year.
And if you think it's too early for all this, think again. Kloss is almost done with her Christmas shopping already.
"Yeah, almost all of it," she said.
Not so for her friend though.
"No, I'm not like her," said Moyer. "I'm late."
So cue up those Christmas carols; the holidays are here. Even if it feels like spring outside.
