One little lady who's not even 24 hours old already has one claim to fame.

A hospital in Bucks County has won the race for the area's first baby of the new year.

Grand View Hospital in Sellersville provided the setting for the arrival of a new baby for Jessica and Shane Balch of Schwenksville at 12:11 a.m. Tuesday.

The baby boy, Shane Patrick Balch, Jr, wasn't actually due to arrive until Jan. 20.

"We had a planned C-section for January 4, as this was a high-risk pregnancy. So, this was a bit of surprise when her water broke on New Year's Eve," said the baby's father, Shane Balch. "We were glad to hold off until 2013. It’s good to make it to the new year – everything’s fresh and new."

Shane Jr., who weighed in at 5 pounds, 11 ounces, joins 8-year-old twin brothers, Matthew and Zachary, who were outfitted for the occasion in matching shirts that read, "Not just another big brother."

The first baby of 2013 at Lehigh Valley Hospital's Cedar Crest campus was born at 12:15 a.m.

The first baby born at St. Luke's Hospital in Allentown arrived at 12:31 a.m. and at 12:57 a.m. at St. Luke's in Fountain Hill, Lehigh Co.

In Berks County, the first new arrival of 2013 was a baby boy named Sseverin, born to Carolina Cruz at Reading Hospital. Sseverin arrived at 12:45 a.m.
