Whitehall Township is a hot spot for commercial and industrial development right now.
The Township Board opened a discussion Monday night regarding the expansion of the Industrial & Commercial Development Authority Board. The Industrial & Commercial Development Authority is looking to expand their Board by two members.
According to Authority Chairman Howard Lieberman, the Authority needs to expand the Board because it “has become very active… there just aren’t enough bodies to get the work done that needs to be done.”
“We are looking to spread the responsibility out,” commented Lieberman.
The Board informed Lieberman that they would need a resolution from the Authority regarding the exact request for expansion. The next Authority meeting will be in April, so the Township Board of Commissioners will not be taking any action regarding this expansion until the resolution has been received from the Authority.
Two other ordinances that were in second reading at the workshop meeting involved amending specific chapters of the Codified Ordinances of Whitehall Township, authorizing Mayor Edward Hozza to enter into a right-of-way grant with UGI Utilities, Inc., and authorize Hozza to accept a deed of easement.
The Board of Commissioners took no action regarding the ordinances due to the meeting being a workshop meeting. Any and all action will be taken at the regular Board meeting to be held next Monday evening.
