Proposed building to be tallest in Lehigh Valley

ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

Move over Martin Towers and PPL tower building -- a new building wants to take the title of "tallest".

A 33-story building is being proposed by developer Bruce Loch for the corner of Ninth and Walnut streets in Allentown, Mayor Pawlowski told 69 News.

The plan was first introduced Wednesday at the city's Parking Authority Meeting.  The land is currently Parking Authority land and is adjacent to a parking garage.

The building would include restaurants, commercial office space and some residential units, Pawlowski said.

The building proposal is in the very early stages.

It still needs to go before the Allentown Neighborhood Improvement Zone Development Authority (ANIZDA) and the city's Planning Commission.

A late phone call to Loch has not yet been returned.
