A woman arrested in connection with a samurai sword attack on her boyfriend last weekend is now facing charges of assaulting a police officer, officials said.
Daisy Estremera was on her way to being booked at the Northampton County Prison at about 3:40 a.m. Saturday when she turned and kicked her police escort in his right knee, causing it to buckle, officials said.
Estremera's alleged attack on Easton police Ofc. D. Timothy Wagner happened less than three hours after Estremera was taken into custody for allegedly striking her boyfriend, Jeffrey Madera, in the head with a partially opened samurai sword in their bedroom at 600 Canal St., Easton, officials said.
For the alleged attack on Wagner, Estremera, 50, was arraigned on charges of aggravated and simple assault and harassment, with bail being set at $1,000, according to court documents.
A preliminary hearing is set for 10 a.m. Jan. 31.
