A woman has been arrested on charges she shot to death the father of her four children while he slept.
Elizabeth "Lilly" Collazo had been a person of interest in the March 15 killing of Mark Werkheiser.
Collazo, 42, was apprehended around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Quality Inn in Easton on charges of criminal homicide, burglary and theft by unlawful taking, said Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli.
Collazo let herself into Werkheiser's house on Browns Road in Williams Township between 4 a.m. and 7 a.m. on March 15 and shot him several times while he was sleeping, police said.
"This lady was driven by ill will, hatred, whatever to plan this murder, not spur of the moment," said Morganelli, who added that Collazo has admitted to the killing, but hasn't given a reason why she did it.
One of Werkheiser's four children found his body on the same day he was supposed to be in court for a custody hearing, authorities said.
Collazo was denied bail. She is due back in court April 9.
The couple, who were separated about a year, have twin 16-year-old daughters and 10-year-old and 13-year-old sons, police said.
Friends and family of Mark Werkheiser held a vigil in his memory Monday night.
Members of his Easton Area High School graduating class of 1992 are raising money for the children on Facebook under the '92 Easton High Reunion page, event 'Support Mark's Children.'
