A Northampton County community is rallying around the children of a man murdered in his home.
Mark Werkheiser, of Williams Township, was shot and killed March 15.
Police say the mother of his children, Elizabeth Collazo, did it.
Mark Werkheiser's friends are posting their grief on Facebook.
The "Support Mark Werkheiser's Children" page is overflowing with remembrances and concern for the four children he left behind.
Police say Werkheiser had custody of the couple's children.
The day he was murdered, Collazo and Werkheiser were supposed to attend a custody hearing.
The children are now in the care of Werkheiser's sister.
The "Support Mark Werkheiser's Children" page says she has three kids of her own. The creator of the Facebook page is asking the community to help: "If we can help with some of the practical needs, it will hopefully allow the family more energy to focus on the emotional healing that will be a long and difficult process. Our goal is to build an addition on their home, since they currently have 1 shower for 9 people."
The page is raising money through a variety of events.
"With four kids, you need a lot of different items whether it be school items or clothes items, shoes, we basically take anything from gift cards to cash to checks and we keep it for the family," said Cheryl Yannuzzelli, owner of DeLorenzo's restaurant in Easton.
Yannuzzelli says the restaurant frequently has a donation night on Mondays for community causes.
She says when one of Werkheiser's friends approached her to do one on April 16, she immediately said "yes."
Yannuzzelli says, as a mother, she knows if something were to happen to her, the community would help her kids.
"Every little bit helps and anyone that can step in and help is appreciated," said Yannuzzelli.
Yannuzzelli says 25 percent of the revenue from Monday April 16 will go to the Werkheiser family.
