A man is facing charges after threatening to stab another man and his mother to death, officials said.

David W. Margretta was arrested after making threats to Michael R. Bobo just after 5 p.m. Saturday, while Bobo was cleaning chocolate syrup that had been smeared on the back door of his home at 306 East 3rd St., Bethlehem, officials said.

As Margretta walked by, he told Bobo, "I'm gonna stab you and kill you and your mother and burn your house down," according to court papers.

Margretta also threatened Bobo's neighbor, Andrew E. Foster, and used a racial slur, officials said, adding that Margaretta promised he would slash Foster's tires, as he had done to Bobo's.

Bobo reported his tires had been slashed after an altercation with Margaretta involving a female family member during the summer, officials said.

Margretta also admitted that he took $115 worth of outdoor furniture, including a glass table and four plastic chairs, and a $15 trash can from Bobo's porch, officials said.

Margaretta, 41, of 715 East 7th St., Bethlehem, was arraigned on charges of making terroristic threats, harassment, theft and receiving stolen property and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $75,000 bail, according to court documents

A preliminary hearing is set for  1 p.m. Oct. 16.
