Man charged with attempted homicide after Whitehall Twp. incident

Attempted homicide charges have been filed in a shooting incident in a suburban Lehigh County neighborhood.

Jamel Hussein Lewis is being held on $1,000,000 bail after he fired shots in the 2000 block of Focht Avenue in South Whitehall Township, court documents show.  That's just blocks away from Kratzer Elementary School.

Police responded to reports of gunshots around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.  When they arrived on scene, they discovered several people arguing, according to court documents.

Shortly after the argument had started, Lewis came out of a home with a gun and fired multiple shots in the direction of two of those arguing, documents show.

Police said Lewis was seen entering a house at 2021 Focht Avenue immediately after the shooting. Police arrested Lewis at the house.

He's been charged with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering and attempted homicide.
