Lehigh Co - Rt 309 Project in South Whitehall Twp

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced work will begin April 8 on a project to rehabilitate PA 309 between Chapmans Road and Interstate 78 in South Whitehall Township, Lehigh County. 
 
The project includes concrete patching, milling and paving, new pavement markings and new guiderail. Also included will be repairs to the PA 309 box culvert over Little Cedar Creek.
 
Starting April 8 and lasting throughout the project, motorists can expect northbound or southbound lane restrictions on the four lane section of PA 309 (I-78 to Walbert Avenue) between the hours of 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. Motorists should also expect lane restrictions with flagging on the two lane section of PA 309 (Walbert Avenue to Chapmans Road) between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.
 
Drivers are urged to exercise caution while driving through the work zones, and be alert for construction vehicles making sudden stops and turns.
 
The project is scheduled to be complete in November. All schedules are subject to change.
 
New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co., Inc. of New Enterprise, Pa. is the general contractor on the $3,269,908 million project.
 
The average daily traffic volume on this section of PA 309 varies between 18,019 near Walbert Avenue and 49,267 vehicles near I-78.
