EASTON, Pa. -

A Lehigh Valley college has been awarded a major grant to help it continue integrating digital humanities into its curriculum.

Lafayette College has been awarded a $700,000 grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to train faculty and students in expanding the use of technology further into the curriculum.

“The Mellon Foundation’s support of this initiative could not be more timely,” says Lafayette College President Alison Byerly. “Lafayette will have the opportunity to take a leading role in important conversations about the ways in which technology can expand and enhance scholarship and teaching in the humanities.”

Bylerly is a leading voice nationally on emerging forms of digital scholarship and the changing role of the humanities in the digital age.

The digital humanities combine the traditional methodology of the humanities (English, history, music, cultural studies, etc.) with computer technology.
