UPPER MACUNGIE TOWNSHIP, Pa. -

Kraft Foods is adding at least 45 new jobs at its Lehigh County production facility.

The company already is hiring to fill those positions.

Kraft's 990,000-square-foot Upper Macungie Township plant makes A1 Steak Sauce and Grey Poupon mustard, in addition to beverages for home brewing systems.

The new jobs are being created because Kraft has added four product lines to produce beverage products for single-serve home brewing systems.

The $35-million investment will retain about 400 jobs, plus creating at least 45 new jobs.

“Kraft Foods is continuing a trend of businesses that are growing and creating jobs that is helping to put Pennsylvanians back to work,” said Governor Tom Corbett, who announced Kraft is hiring. “Today’s announcement of 45 new jobs is the eleventh jobs announcement I have made in the Lehigh Valley in 2013.”

Funding to Kraft from the state's Department of Community and Economic Development includes a $200,000 Pennsylvania First Program grant, $90,000 in Job Creation Tax Credits and a $49,500 Guaranteed Free Training grant to be used to train the newest members of its workforce.

“We are delighted to see this significant investment in the Lehigh Valley,” Tricia Clark, Kraft's plant manager. "We greatly appreciate the support of the state and the Department of Community and Economic Development to help make this happen.”
