PHILADELPHIA -

A Philadelphia jury said it's deadlocked in the case of a Roman Catholic priest charged with sexually assaulting an altar boy in 1997.

The judge on Wednesday afternoon asked the jurors to keep trying. They've been deliberating since last week.

The 26-year-old accuser testified he was sexually assaulted in a rectory bedroom by the Rev. Andrew McCormick.

McCormick has been suspended from the church since 2011 over complaints about his behavior around children. He denies the allegations.

The case involves McCormick's time at a Polish parish in northeast Philadelphia. A small but loyal group of parishioners has attended the trial to support him.

McCormick is the latest of several Roman Catholic priests in Philadelphia who have faced trial on charges of sexually assaulting children.
