ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

An attorney who's running for district judge in Lehigh County won't be able to vote for himself in the upcoming election.

A woman living in the 1800 block of Linden Street in Allentown filed a complaint with the election board, claiming that Joseph Maher used her address when filing to run for magisterial district judge.

Venus Mora said she made the discovery when she received a notice of termination from UGI that was in Maher's name.

At a hearing Thursday, the county election board invalidated Maher's voter registration. The board also said that if Maher wins the election, his victory could be challenged by the courts.

Tim Benyo, chief clerk of registration and elections, said he didn't know how Maher came to use Mora's address, only that Mora agreed to it after Maher represented her in his capacity as an attorney.

Maher now lists a residence in the 1300 block of Chew Street, Benyo said.
