NORTH MANHEIM TWP., Pa. -

State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating a fatal crash that happened near a shopping center Wednesday afternoon.

It happened just before 5 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Route 61 and the Cressona Mall in North Manheim Twp., Schuylkill County.

Police said 65-year-old James Gorski of Pottsville was killed when he tried turning onto Seven Stars Road, but crossed into the path of a pickup truck.

The driver of the truck -- 38-year-old Thomas Salvadora of Shenandoah -- was not injured.

Salvadora's truck hit Gorski's car on the passenger side and both vehicles traveled about 100 feet before stopping in the northbound lanes of Route 61, police said.

Gorski was pronounced dead at the scene.
