US-Flooding

About 2,000 residents of Louisiana's St. Landry Parish have just a few hours to clear out. They've been ordered to evacuate their homes threatened by floodwaters from the Mississippi River. The Army Corps of Engineers has now opened four gates on the Morganza Spillway to protect more populated areas downstream.

Illinois-Deadly-Fire

Six people, including at least three children, have been killed in an apartment fire in the Chicago suburb of Aurora, Illinois. More than a dozen people were taken to hospitals for treatment. The cause is under investigation.

Texas-Fatal-Fire

A mobile home fire has claimed four lives in Conroe, Texas. The local fire chief says three of the four victims were small kids. Three other people were taken to a hospital. Authorities believe three families were living in the trailer.

Israel-Border-Violence

Lebanon's state news agency reports at least 10 people have been killed in clashes along the border with Israel. There was also violence on the Israeli border with Syria and near the Gaza border. The violence erupted on the day Palestinians mourn the creation of the Jewish state.

New-York-IMF-Questioning

The head of the International Monetary Fund has been arrested in New York. Dominique Strauss-Kahn is accused of attempting to rape a housekeeper. Strauss-Kahn has been widely considered a potential candidate for the French presidency.
