BERN TWP., Pa. -

A hunter's stray bullet brought down a power line, sparking a brush fire in Bern Township, officials said.

Firefighters got the call shortly after 9 a.m. Tuesday to respond to the area of West Leesport and Rickenbach roads.

The hunter's stray bullet hit a conductor, causing one of Met-Ed's main transmission lines to fall to the ground.

The fallen line knocked out electricity to about 2,000 nearby homes and businesses and sparked a fire that burned a 25-foot by 30-foot patch of brush, officials said.

The fire was out by the time firefighters arrived.

Met-Ed managed to restore power in about five minutes.
