BETHLEHEM, Pa. -

A homeless man punched a woman who is eight months pregnant on her arms, in the back of her head and in her stomach, officials said.

Albert Flores began pummeling the woman after he was let into her apartment in the 1000 block of Mechanic Street in Bethlehem around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, while the woman was "hanging out" with friends, officials said.

The woman was taken to the hospital after Flores ran out of the apartment when the woman's friends came to her aid, officials said.

Flores was taken into custody when police stopped his white four-door Chevy Impala in front of a supermarket near Broadway and Montclair Avenue in Bethlehem, officials noted.

Court papers did not say what the relationship was between Flores and the woman.

Flores, 29, was arraigned early Monday morning on charges of aggravated and simple assault, reckless endangerment and harassment and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $25,000 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Dec. 9.
