Updated On: Nov 18 2013 02:51:32 PM CST
The honor of flipping the switch to light the landmark Peace Candle in Easton on Nov. 29 will go to the highest bidder.
This year's "Iluminator" also will be featured in a Santa parade and honored to carry "The Official Match."
Bids to be the Illuminator are being taken in an online auction at ebay until Nov. 25.
As of 3:30 p.m. Monday, 24 bids had been entered and the top bid was $202.50.
Easton's Peace Candle has been a city tradition since 1951. Promoted as the largest non-wax candle in the country, and second in the world, it serves as a symbol of peace for all religions and denominations.
The highest bidder must be present for the Santa Parade at 7p.m. and lighting of the candle at 8 p.m.
Proceeds for this year’s auction, which is being coordinated by the Easton Main Street Initiative, will support Peace Candle Lighting events.
The Peace Candle Lighting & Holiday Open House is 5-9 p.m. Nov. 29. Activities include horse-drawn carriage rides, ice sculpting, the Santa Parade , photos with Santa, crafters, music and kids’ activities.
Downtown retailers will be open late for holiday shopping.
Free metered parking will be available all day in downtown.
