There could be a bit of light snow around Thursday evening, especially north of the Berks/Lehigh Valley area.

As a storm approaches Thursday, we expect cloudy skies with snow at times during the day. The snowfall will be mostly light until afternoon.

The snow is expected to pick up in intensity later Thursday afternoon, evening and overnight before ending Friday morning.

The peak intensity of the storm is expected to occur between 8 p.m. Thursday and 4 a.m. Friday.

Most areas in the Lehigh Valley will expect to see four to six inches of snow, with greater amounts north and east and lesser amounts south and west.

Higher amounts of up to eight inches or more can be found in parts of the Poconos and northern New Jersey.

(NOTE: Our WFMZ AccuWeather forecast can be found in the map below. The National Weather Service forecast is calling for six to 10 inches of snow).

Stay tuned to 69 News, WFMZ.com and the 69 NewsAccuWeather Channel for updates.

Behind the storm, the coldest air since 2009 will move into our area, with low temperatures forecast to be near or below zero.
