Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett says schools like Reading Area Community College are key to making the state's workforce stronger.

READING, Pa. -

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett says schools like Reading Area Community College are key to making the state's workforce stronger.

"So I would applaud this institution and institutions like RACC and the Pennsylvania schools who are now creating, what I consider to be cutting edge programs to help students,"

The governor toured RACC's campus Wednesday afternoon. He praised the school's efforts to help students keep up with the changing needs of businesses.

RACC also announced a dual admission agreement that will allow its students in certain programs to easily transfer credits to Bloomsburg University.

"Pennsylvania's community colleges and Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education universities are uniquely positioned to fulfill the training and educational requirements of employers," said Anna Weitz, RACC's president. "This partnership with Bloomsburg University is one more example of our commitment to working together to further the economic and workforce development of our state."

This is the first partnership for RACC that allows the opportunity for its career and technology students to earn a bachelor’s degree on its campus in downtown Reading.
