Hundreds of students took over the State Theatre in Easton Thursday night.
It was the hottest ticket in town, but the 12th annual Freddy Awards is in the books.
From cats in hats to the land of OZ, it's a night to honor the best in high school musical theatre.
This year's awards were the most competitive ever, with a record breaking 31 schools up for grabs.
Nominees waited to hear their names called for the 21 awards up for grabs.
Turns out, even more awards were actually handed out.
"He can sing, he can dance, he can do everything," announced co-host Shelley Brown.
Freedom High's Danny Youngelman was given a special Freddy Most Valuable Player Award for the most Freddy nominations ever.
"Thank you so much for this honor," Youngelman gushed. "It couldn't mean more to me, who could ask for anything more!"
The surprises didn't stop there.
"It's a tie!"
Dieruff High School and Freedom High School both walked away winners for Outstanding Choreography. Two Freddy alums even got engaged during the live broadcast.
Emmaus High School led the pack with 19 nominations for the night.
The school's production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast sang and danced it's way to three Freddy's, including Outstanding Performance by a Lead Actress by Megnot Toggia.
"Oh my gosh, woooo wow, okay," she smiled.
The award for Outstanding Performance by a Lead Actor went to Freedom's Danny Youngelman for his role in 'Crazy For You.'
The end of the show was just as exciting as the start. Moravian Academy and Notre Dame pulled out a tie for Outstanding Overall Production by a smaller school.
Finally it was time for Outstanding Overall Production.
"Freedom High School Crazy For You!"
If you missed it, the entire Freddy Awards show will air again right here on WFMZ this Saturday starting at 10:30 p.m.
