FOUNTAIN HILL, Pa. -

Residents of Fountain Hill are being warned by police to immediately report any suspicious activity following two recent burglaries or attempted burglaries in the borough.

Police indicate that in both cases, young Hispanic males wearing blue sweaters displaying identification cards purporting them to be with the "water department" subtly forced their way into the homes of elderly residents.

One male then would distract the homeowners while the other ransacked the home, looking for valuables to steal.

Borough police said it happened on the afternoon of  Jan. 7 in the 1100 block of Stanley Avenue and again on Monday afternoon in the 800 block of Lynn Street.

"Should someone knock on your door, call 610-691-5512 for an officer to help verify the validity of the 'employee'," advise borough police.

Police also are asking for the public's assistance in identifying the burglars. Anyone with questions or comments, as well as anyone who experienced similar incidents, should call Fountain Hill Criminal Investigator Justino Arroyo at 610-437-5252 or email jarroyo@fhpolice.org.
