STROUDSBURG, Pa. -

The founder of a local boys' choir has pleaded guilty to statutory sexual assault and two counts of possessing child pornography.

In 1970, Kenneth Bernard Schade founded the Singing Boys of Pennsylvania Choir, based in Monroe and Northampton counties.

Schade, 74, of Wind Gap, Northampton Co., was accused of raping a teenage boy more than two decades ago when Schade was 57-years-old. Charges were brought against Schade in March.

A call from jail a month later got Schade into more trouble.

While an inmate in the Monroe County Correctional Facility, Schade called his neighbor, Shari Revilla, and asked her to remove two locked suitcases from his house and keep them in a safe place, police said.

When Revilla, turned over the suitcases to police, they founr 1,101 pornographic pictures of children under the age of 18, officials said.

Schade entered his guilty plea Monday in Monroe County Court in Stroudsburg.

His sentencing has been deferred until a pre-sentence and a sex offender evaluation is done.
