A fire truck struck a car while responding to the scene of a house fire in Allentown late Friday morning.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

A fire truck struck a car while responding to the scene of a house fire in Allentown late Friday morning.

The fire was reported shortly after 11:30 a.m. at 954 W. Tilghman St.

Tower 1 was on its way to the scene when the truck hit the car at 9th and West Tilghman.

The driver of the car was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a minor injury.

Firefighters managed to prevent much of the fire from spreading beyond a room on the third floor of the row home, said Capt. John Christopher, Allentown Fire Dept., who credited multiple working smoke detectors in the home for the firefighters' quick response.

The fire, Christopher said, started in the area of a window air conditioner, but investigators haven't yet pinpointed the exact cause.

The American Red Cross assisted two people who were displaced from the fire.
