BENSALEM TWP., Pa. -

A 75-foot cellphone tower is leaning after it caught fire in Bucks County, but the blaze is mostly extinguished, an emergency management official said.

Firefighters in Bensalem Township reported the tower was on fire around 11:30 a.m. Friday at the township's public works complex. Television footage of the blaze showed clouds of smoke rising up from the structure.

The fire was mostly extinguished shortly after noon, said Scott Forster, Bucks County's director of emergency services, who noted that a small area was still smoldering at the base of the tower. There were no immediate reports of injuries.

Some residents of a nearby apartment complex have been evacuated, said Forster. At least one road in the area has also been closed.

The tower, Forster said, is leaning, but he's not sure how badly it's damaged or whether it's structurally sound.

A PECO spokesman said power to the tower has been cut off.
