Female pedestrian struck, killed by car in Montgomery County

HATBORO, Pa. -

Two woman walking along a Montgomery County road were hit by a car early Monday, police said. One woman died at the scene.

Hatboro police are investigating the accident that happened around 12:15 a.m. near the intersection of N. York Road and Hunters Way in the borough.

Police said the women --identified as Francisca Polanco and Mable Cruz, both of Hatboro -- appeared to have been walking in the northbound lane of York Road when a northbound car hit both women.

Polanco was pronounced dead at the scene. Cruz was taken to Abington Memorial Hos;ital where she's listed in critical condition.

The driver --who police did not identify -- remained on scene after the accident and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.

The accident is under investigation by the Hatboro Police Department and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s office, County Detective Bureau.

Investigators will be conducting accident reconstruction and conducting forensic testing.
