HARRISBURG, Pa. -

A Montgomery County company will move forward with an expansion project that is expected to help create and retain dozens of jobs in Berks County, officials announced Monday.

Berk Wiper International, a Lansdale-based manufacturer of disposable wiping cloths for more than 35 years, will acquire and renovate an existing 275,600-square-foot facility in Boyertown. The company will invest a total of $3,284,000 in the project, which officials said they expect to create 29 new jobs and retain 28 existing employees.

The Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority (PIDA) will provide a $1,956,000, 15-year, low-interest loan at 1.5 percent to the Greater Berks Development Fund on behalf of Berk Wiper International.

"Keeping a commitment to maintain fiscal stability and enact pro-growth policies has sent a strong message that Pennsylvania is serious about job creation," Corbett said. "As a result, more than 125,000 private sector jobs have been created and our labor force has grown by 100,000 to more than 6.5 million."

"I’d like to thank Governor Corbett, PIDA and the Greater Berks Development Fund for all of their hard work and support during this process," said Larry Berk, CEO of Berk Wiper International.
