Oscar-winner Ben Affleck was born in California on Aug. 15, 1972, and he was raised in Cambridge, Mass.
Affleck wanted to be an actor from an early age. His earliest roles include a Burger King commercial and a PBS mini-series.
As a youngster growing up in Boston, Affleck became friends with Matt Damon.
His first big break came in 1993 when he appeared in “Dazed and Confused.” In 1995 he appeared in the Kevin Smith film “Mallrats.”
He teamed up with Smith again in 1997 in “Chasing Amy.”
Affleck’s biggest break may have come in 1997, when he and Damon teamed up to write and star in “Good Will Hunting.” They won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.
In 1998 Affleck co-starred with Liv Tyler and Bruce Willis in “Armageddon.”
Affleck also appeared in “Shakespeare in Love” in 1998.
In 1999 Affleck co-starred with Sandra Bullock in “Forces of Nature.”
In 2000 Affleck appeared in “Reindeer Games.”
Affleck also starred alongside Gwyneth Paltrow in “Bounce” in 2000.
He starred in “Pearl Harbor” in 2001.
In 2002 he co-starred with Samuel L. Jackson in “Changing Lanes.”
He also starred alongside Morgan Freeman in “The Sum of All Fears” in 2002.
In 2003 Affleck turned into a superhero in “Daredevil,” which he starred in with Jennifer Garner, whom he would eventually marry.
That same year Affleck starred with his then-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez in “Gigli.”
In 2004, Affleck starred in another Smith film – “Jersey Girl.”
In 2007, Affleck directed his first major film, “Gone Baby Gone.”
In 2009 Affleck joined an all-star cast in “He’s Just Not That Into You.”
In 2010 Affleck starred in “The Company Men” with Chris Cooper and Tommy Lee Jones.
Affleck directed and starred in “The Town” in 2010.
In 2012, Affleck starred in and directed “Argo,” which won the Oscar for Best Picture.
Affleck teamed up with Justin Timberlake in “Runner Runner” in 2013.
Affleck and Garner are married with three children.
