Embattled Gilberton Police Chief Mark Kessler: 'I touched the nation'
Updated On: Oct 18 2013 10:47:33 AM CDT
For nearly thirty minutes Business Matters host Tony Iannelli took aim at embattled Gilberton Borough Police Chief Mark Kessler.
"Is it accurate to say you said, look I will not enforce DUIs, is that accurate?"
"That's right," answered Kessler.
Once the studio cameras stopped rolling, Kessler stuck around to explain what he's all about.
"I touched the nation," Kessler explained. "Whether I touched it in a good way or a bad way, I got the conversation started."
That conversation, according to him, is about 1st and 2nd Amendment rights. Kessler was suspended at the end of July after posting profanity laced gun-rights videos online. He says he has no regrets, and the recordings were meant to be shocking. On his Facebook page he's been organizing an armed, non-government group called the Constitution Security Force.
"We need to get rid of the current leadership and replace it with real American people who know what it's like to live paycheck to paycheck, who know what it's like to fight for freedom."
Kessler tells us the militia-like group already has 48 chapters in 45 states.
"This is a man who does believe in revolution despite what he's saying," said Mike Morrill with Keystone Progress.
He faced off with Kessler on Business Matters. According to Morrill, CSF is affiliated with anti-government extremist groups. Keystone Progress wants Kessler ousted as Chief of Police.
"He's not honest, he's an inept police officer," added Morrill. "So this goes way beyond first amendment issues, second amendment issues."
