Eagles: Nick Foles to start at QB for remainder of season

Nick Foles will be the starting signal caller for Philadelphia for the rest of the season, Chip Kelly said on Tuesday.

PHILADELPHIA -

Eagles head coach Chip Kelly said Nick Foles will be the starting quarterback for the rest of the season on Tuesday. The announcement comes as no surprise, given Foles' success in leading Philadelphia when Michael Vick was injured.

Foles took over for Vick when Vick initially suffered the injury Oct. 6. He went 4-1 as a starter, threw 16 touchdown passes without an interception. He completed 63.6 percent of his passes, threw for 1,554 yards and tied an NFL record for throwing seven touchdowns in one game. His quarterback rating of 128.0 is the highest of any this season.

Even though Vick is healthy now and can play, he was supportive of the Foles' move, as he has always been for his team mate.

Kelly said he won’t change his mind, regardless of how Foles plays. The Eagles will face the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field, a game with playoff implications. The Eagles are tied for the NFC East lead at 6-5, while Arizona is in the running for a wildcard spot at 7-4.
