STOCKERTOWN, Pa. -

A drunken driving suspect is facing charges after hitting a tractor trailer with three children in his car last month, officials said.

Bruce T. Odonnell was found with the front driver's side of his 1997 Chevrolet Lumina badly damaged at a service station in the 300 block of Main Street in Stockertown, Northampton Co., around 10:05 p.m. June 4, about two blocks away from where he hit a tractor trailer, officials said.

Odonnell had three children, ages 9, 11 and 12, in his car at the time of the accident, but no one was injured, officials said.

Odonnell, who admitted to police to drinking beer at a friend's birthday party before the crash, almost fell over and was having trouble standing during a sobriety test, officials said, adding that Odonnell's blood alcohol content was more than three times the legal limit.

Odonnell, 33, of Market St., Bangor, Northampton Co., was arraigned Saturday afternoon on charges of DUI, driving while impaired, endangering the welfare of children, failing to immediately notify police of an accident, careless driving and driving with a suspended license and released on $10,000 unsecured bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. July 19.
