ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

Drunk driving is suspected as the cause of a crash which occurred early Thursday.

Police say, a man was travelling northbound on the 100 block of Cedar Crest Blvd just south of Broadway, when his 2006 Audi left the roadway and crashed into a utility pole.

The crash also caused damage to a vehicle parked in the driveway of 111 South Cedar Crest Blvd.  A service box attached to the utility pole crashed onto the parked vehicle, police say.

The man, police identify as Thomas R. Krut of Laury's Station,  was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest for lacerations received during the crash.

Police say alcohol is suspected as a factor in the crash. However, the incident remains under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.

Utility crews from PP&I and Verizon worked through the morning rush hour to replace and repair the utility pole and restore service.

Cedar Crest Blvd was shut down between Broadway and the Hamilton Blvd bypass for several hours due to the crash.
