Bethlehem man is accused of abandoning a dog

LOWER SAUCON TWP., Pa. -

A Bethlehem man has been charged after the dog he left abandoned outside an animal hospital was struck and killed by a vehicle, according to police.

Lower Saucon police have filed an abandoning a dog charge against 37-year-old Orlando Morales-Concepcion, of the 1100 block of Fritz Drive.

The incident happened early Friday morning at North Saucon Animal Hospital.

Police say Morales-Concepcion left his Shih-tzu named Dolly tied to the front door of the hospital.

But Dolly managed to get loose and was hit by the vehicle on Route 378.

Police say Dolly was left at the hospital before business hours, so there was no staff on hand to help the dog.

Police say they were able to identify the dog's owner Saturday afternoon thanks to numerous tips from the community.
