Deer breaks into church, leaves behind a big mess

WERNERSVILLE, Pa. -

A deer was cause for some chaos and concern in Berks County on Wednesday.

The deer crashed through a classroom window of the Trinity Lutheran Church school on South Walnut Street in Wernersville shortly before 3:30 p.m.

Fortunately, students had already been dismissed from the school, and the classroom was unoccupied at the time, officials said.

The deer roamed the building for several minutes, knocking over some things and leaving behind a trail of blood before managing to find its way back outside through an open door, officials said.

The deer was last seen running off into a wooded area near the church. An animal control officer on the scene said the deer wasn't badly injured and would be okay.

Church officials said the school will be open on Thursday.
