A mother of three is dead and her husband is expected to be charged with the crime.
Around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, a 16-year-old girl called 911 saying her mother had been shot, Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin said.
Martin told 69 News Thida Myint, 37, was pronounced dead in the 300 block of Central Park Avenue in Bethlehem at 4:27 p.m. Tuesday.
The Lehigh County coroner ruled her death a homicide and confirmed Wednesday that Myint died from a gunshot wound to the body.
Martin says Myint's husband, Win Min Htut, 37, will face charges for criminal homicide, burglary and criminal trespass.
He says after the shooting, Htut allegedly grabbed his 3-year-old daughter and flagged down a driver who took the pair to the 7-Eleven on Union Boulevard in Allentown.
Police located Htut and his daughter there. She was not physically harmed.
Htut was not allowed at the home following a protection from abuse order (PFA) filed on November 18th. It's unclear whether Htut was legally in possession of the gun, Martin said.
Neighbors had nothing but nice things to say about the family.
"I am shocked, I'm shocked. Very nice people. I didn't know them that well, I knew they were from Burma, Myanmar, originally," said Gary Yost, next door neighbor.
Htut had been living in hotels for the last month, following the estrangement with his wife.
According to Martin, the two got into an argument on Tuesday. A neighbor recalled a domestic situation at the house a few weeks ago.
"A few Sundays ago, I remember hearing commotion and police were out here. I asked police what happened, and he just said "family problems," Yost said.
Yost said he hadn't seen Htut come around since the domestic situation. He said he believed Htut previously worked as a sushi chef.
Myint had three children, 16, 10 and 3. All three kids witnessed Tuesday's shooting, Martin said.
Martin says law enforcement officials are still working to determine if Htut is a U.S. citizen.
