Allentown Police are looking for answers after a 16-year-old was shot and killed on a city street.
Charles Bryant was shot dead in the 900 block of Oak Street around 11:50 p.m. Monday. For some neighbors, the violence came a little too close for comfort.
"It was around midnight, very close to midnight," described Gail Loder.
Gunfire sliced through the silence in the city.
"It's very scary, very scary."
Neighbors said they were jolted awake, worst case scenarios running through their heads.
"I heard four shots, I knew immediately what it was," said Loder. "I came flying down because my granddaughter was sleeping on the sofa."
Two bullets flew through Loder's front window, leaving holes in the glass and blinds. Her granddaughter Isabella was terrified, but perfectly okay. The ammo was lodged in the walls.
"Had they been lower Isabella might have been hurt or God forbid whatever," Loder explained. "But it's scary."
Outside on the street Bryant lay dead. The Lehigh County coroner said the teen's death is a homicide from a gunshot wound to the body.
Bouquets of roses stand as a tribute at the scene. One paper reads RIP Ju Ju, you will be missed and never forgotten.
Bryant lives less than a mile from where the shooting happened on Oak Street. So far no one has been charged in the killing.
