HARRISBURG, Pa. -

Pennsylvania's 12-year transportation program saw a sizable boost Thursday.

Governor Tom Corbett announced that the new plan anticipates $63.2 billion to be available to the transportation program, as compared to the $41.6 billion that was projected two years ago.

In the first four years, an estimated $12.3 billion will be spent on highway and bridge repairs, $7.9 billion on public transit, $370 million on aviation and $228 million on rail-freight systems.

The "multimodal fund," newly created, will receive $284 million in the first four years.

The transportation project takes effect October 1.
