NAZARETH, Pa. -

A man has been arrested in connection with the theft of copper wire from a Northampton County business five months ago, officials said.

Chris A. Kelemen tried to sell 21 pounds of copper wire he stole from A & H Sportswear, 240 South Green St., Nazareth, around 5:45 p.m. May 22 to Einfalt Recycling & Salvage, Stockertown, Northampton Co., the following day, officials said.

Police found the stolen metal on May 23, after Einfalt employee Peter Gheller told police that Kelemen brought him coils of copper wire he wanted to sell, officials said.

Kelemen was questioned by police on May 22 after three A & H employees said they saw him with copper wiring in a building known as "the Hut," but Kelemen denied stealing the wiring, telling police that he had locked "the Hut" before the copper wring was taken, officials said.

Kelemen, 28, of 712 Ferry St., Easton, and 61 Stonehedge Drive, Lopatcong, Warren Co., N.J., was arraigned Friday afternoon on charges of theft and receiving stolen property and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $20,000 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Oct. 28.
